MSDS-Information

An economical and powerful tool for pain management

DESCRIPTION:

Vetprofen contains carprofen, the most widely used and clinically proven NSAID in veterinary medicine. Carprofen, like other NSAIDs, works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, the body chemicals that cause inflammation. Most dogs respond quickly to carprofen and become more active and mobile within just a few days of treatment.

At Vétoquinol, products are developed with the veterinarian in mind, providing options that not only represent real progress, but also real value. Vetprofen is a bioequivalent alternative to the name brand carprofen-based NSAID. Vetprofen is an FDA approved prescription only product. Federal (USA) law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

METHOD OF ACTION:

Vetprofen is an effective pain management treatment for Osteoarthritis or pain following orthopedic or soft-tissue surgery.

FORMULATION(S):

DOSING AND TREATMENT:

Once-daily dosing provides 24 hours of relief from osteoarthritic or post-surgical pain. Vetprofen may be given 2 hours prior to surgery and for several days after to provide sustained post-surgical relief. Vetprofen caplets allow easy, oral administration and may be given with or without food to help improve compliance.

Vetprofen Dosage Chart

Carprofen, the active ingredient in Vetprofen, is FDA approved and generally considered safe. Like most drugs, however, carprofen can cause side effects. If side effects are noted, the drug should be discontinued. As with all NSAIDs, it should be given with caution to geriatric patients and monitoring of blood work is recommended. See package insert for complete details.
